October 2021, Milan, Italy and Bergen, Norway – ReviewerCredits, the peer review recognition platform, and ERIH PLUS, the academic journal index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) in Europe, are pleased to announce their partnership to facilitate a more effective acknowledgement of peer review activities, and to support publishers in the search (and selection) for peer reviewers.
The joint aim is to connect the two platforms in order to increase the visibility and discoverability of the HSS Journals, and at the same time to offer HSS Researchers the recognition they deserve as peer reviewers.
The profile pages of the Journals indexed on ERIH PLUS and registered on ReviewerCredits are linked to each other through a dedicated field. On the one hand, they benefit from this metadata fluidity by gaining a wider and more incisive channel of visibility; on the other hand, by entering the HSS publications in a wider academic context, they obtain more tools to strengthen, enrich and make more effective their peer review network.
Both organizations aim to encourage HSS publications. The agreement will enable journals indexed in ERIH PLUS to be more easily identified on ReviewerCredits and vice versa. It also covers the exchange of coordination of technical and strategic communication between the two societies.
“We are very excited about this cooperation with ReviewerCredits. As the peer review process is one of the most important qualities of a scientific journal, this cooperation gives us the opportunity to actually document the review process of the journals in ERIH PLUS. This is not just an added value for ERIH PLUS and the journals indexed, but also for the end-users who depend on ERIH PLUS as a trustworthy index” said Monica Roos, Senior Adviser at Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills.
Peer review is ultimately needed in Social Sciences and Humanities and has become one of the key elements in the evaluation of the trustworthiness of a journal. Hence, I am really proud of the partnership we just announced with ERIH PLUS. We really hope that the indexed journals will appreciate the opportunity to obtain a certification of peer review activity and this will serve to ERIH PLUS to improve further its already very rigorous indexing process, said Giacomo Bellani, Co-Founder and President of ReviewerCredits.
About ERIH PLUS
ERIH PLUS (originally called the European Reference Index for the Humanities or ERIH) is an index holding bibliographic information on quality checked academic journals within the Social Sciences and Humanities (HSS). The aim of the index is to increase visibility, retrievability and availability of HSS research.
All the journals in ERIH PLUS are individually checked and evaluated. We also have experts in several countries who take part in this evaluation work. Last, we are partnering up with companies or persons who can add value to ERiH PLUS in our visions for the future.
